The perfect amount of acid and tannin balance out the concentrated palate, leading to an expansive finish.

It’s no surprise that Wine Advocate gave the 2017 Frank Family Napa Valley Zinfandel 89 points. WA notes: “Deep garnet-purple in color…notes of barked red and blackberries, earth, fried herbs, spice box, and tobacco. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm, and chewy with a lively line and earthy finish.”

4 Roederer Estate Brut

California sparkling varieties, like this Roederer Estate Brut, provide a sense of celebration to the day. Pairing well with appetizers like salami, raw veggies, deviled eggs, and seafood bites.

5 Schramsberg 2015 Blanc de Noirs

For a taste of American tradition, try Schramsberg’s Blanc de Noirs. Pioneers of the Blanc de Noirs, in the United States, releasing the first such designated California sparkling wine in 1967.

The Schramsberg 2015 Blanc de Noirs vintage expresses the generous aroma of white peach, dried mango, and fresh honeycomb, which gradually layer with milk chocolate and marzipan fragrances – rich flavors coat the palate: apricot, strawberry cream, almond, and dark spice. At the same time, a lively acidic backbone gives way to candied ginger and Mandarin orange finish.

Simply put, it’s a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a delightful fizz. Did we mention Wine Spectator gave this bottle 90 points?

6 Hartford Court 2018 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is a classic pairing for Thanksgiving. It’s a delicate red fruit. Its flavors make it a nice complement to turkey, and it’s great with a sausage stuffing or bacon Brussels sprouts.

As mentioned in #6, Pinot Noir is an excellent choice for a ‘nice complement’ to [most] holiday favorites, and Melville Winery, which has 120 acres of organically-grown grapes, makes another show-stopper Pinot Noir, in California (a hotspot of Pinot Noir production) worth mentioning for your holiday feasts!

The 2015 Melville Estate Pinot Noir is light garnet in color. Vivid aromatics of rhubarb, tangerine zest, fresh cranberry, and juniper are immediately apparent while intriguing notes of eucalyptus, chanterelle mushroom, plum skin, and green tea linger in the background. It’s focused and precise, with velvety tannins that frame the wine’s plush core as well as the lengthy and cohesive finish. 40% of the fruit sees whole cluster fermentation.

Rated 93 points by Wine Enthusiast, and notes: “Red cherries, dried rose petals, and cinnamon-spiced melon show on the unique and alluring nose in this bottling. The palate offers a complex blend of earth and fruit. Combining sour cherry with wild thyme, red flowers, and dried sage.”

8 Sonoma-Cutrer 2016 Les Pierres Chardonnay

Now here’s a wine that can assist you with the upcoming holiday feasts preparation – on a multi-tasking level. Chardonnay is an absolutely fabulous choice for basting the turkey and sipping beside it.

The 2016 Sonoma-Cutrer Les Pierres Chardonnay is sourced from a very rocky vineyard where the vines have to struggle. Grapes are hand-harvested and hand-sorted, then whole-cluster-pressed and barrel fermented on fine lees. On the nose, the aromas are rich with notes of lemon, citrus blossom, and lemon curd laced with light chalky, mineral scents that are highlighted with sweet oak and lightly toasted nut. Bright citrus flavors, melon, and lime are well integrated with the oak and complemented with flavors of roasted nuts, barrel spice, and mineral notes. The wine has a beautifully balanced mouthfeel with an elegant mid-palate creaminess. The lingering, juicy finish delivers Sonoma-Cutrer’s signature citrus-laced acidity.

9 Ridge 2018 East Bench Zinfandel

Even though Zinfandels tend to taste sweet, they are also known for their bold characteristics which can also complement [most] traditional holiday feasts. You’ll find baking spices, jammy red berries, and pepper notes in this Ridge 2018 East Bench Zinfandel.
