HWC 55th Anniversary Invitation

HWC is a quintessential landmark in Escondido, California.

‘Service, Selection, & Tradition’ was the mission of HWC when opening its doors on St. Patrick’s day, March 17th, 1965, by Frederick Einer, JR, and his brothers, Richard, Otto and Ed. While there have been many changes over these 55 years, HWC’s mission has continued to stay the same.

Liquor Sign Assembly outside HWCRibbon Cutting Ceremony opening day in 1965 at HWCIf you were to have walked into HWC on opening day, you would see a lot more than just wine, liquor, and beer on the shelves. The smell of rotisserie chicken would fill the air to greet hungry customers. You would find canned goods, delicatessen, dried fruits, and engraved wooden price tags.  Since then, there have been a few minor adjustments to the store, such as the installation of a 24-bottle self-serve wine barSelf-Serve Wine Bar in the HWC underground wine cellar.  Take a walk down the spiral staircase to visit the [only] authentic underground wine cellar [in all of San Diego County]. Tuesdays & Thursdays HWC will match you dollar for dollar at the self-serve wine bar.  And while the smell rotisserie no longer fills the air, you are now greeted with a tasting bar where #FREEsips of an array of spirits are enjoyed while you shop. Lastly, in response to the booming craft beer culture, HWC created a Dedicated Beer Cave inside HWCdedicated beer cave.

In addition to the physical changes within the storefront, HWC now offers a Wine Club and space(s) to host private events in their underground wine bar & Beverage Bunker. Check out the HWC Events Calendar – RSVP for the #FREEsips and more!
