The desire to try something new is innate in humans. How else would there be so many innovations in this world?

Take, for instance, all of the new products constantly arriving on the craft beer, wine, and spirit markets. Countless new varieties of products are being created everyday, and new styles and techniques are even popping up along with this trend.

New products arrive in the craft beer, wine and spirits market every day because of this desire for the novel. In the beverage industry, crafters are experimenting everyday to create something new. These crafters develop new styles and techniques, often by accident.

Due to this desire to try new things, Holiday Wine Cellar holds weekly tastings for our customers to partake in the enlightening experience of trying new products alongside old favorites.

We have three tastings coming up this week, including Spanish wine, Kimo Sabe Mezcal, and Cointreau.

You will find our import wine specialist Marc-Pierre in our underground wine cellar this Thursday evening, August 20th, pouring various red and white Spanish wines, guiding you through tasting notes and offering anecdotal tidbits regarding wine styles and origins. Wines to be poured include Poema 2013 Muscat, Tres Picos 2012 Garnacha, and Campos De Viento 2012 Tempranillo.

Friday evening brings Kimo Sabe Mezcal to HWC, the product of years of hard work and experience between Jim and Ashley Walsh, a father-daughter duo with an agricultural background.

The Walshes got their start producing chocolate in Hawaii from their own cacao trees, and more recently have been involved in the cultivation of agave plants in Oaxaca, Mexico. These plants produce the smooth-tasting Kimo Sabe Mezcal, which dons its refined flavor from an innovative blend of fire-roasting and steaming techniques coupled with advanced distilling methods.

To finish off the weekend’s tastings, we have Cointreau making an appearance on Saturday afternoon to sample their classic triple sec and the newer addition to their portfolio, Cointreau Noir. The latter, Cointreau Noir, is a walnut and almond-infused blend of the classic bitter orange-flavored Cointreau and Remy Martin Cognac, lending it a more intense and complex flavor profile more akin to Grand Marnier.
