Wine is increasingly being put to use for things other than drinking. Cooking with wine is nothing new, and neither are wine cocktails – sangria comes to mind. But wine’s uses are increasing, including consumption for health benefits.

A new company hailing from San Diego is thinking even further outside of the box, though, and creating products with wine to be consumed not before or during, but after, dinner.

Pearls of Sorbet makes – you guessed it – sorbet with wine, marrying some of the country’s best wine with Napa Valley fruit purees and natural fruit juices. This beautiful marriage of ingredients creates a lush, juicy way to enjoy dessert time, and with the alcohol retained in the sorbet, you can substitute this for a dessert wine. Or, you could throw in the dessert wine anyway, if you want. Maybe a late harvest Riesling or Port? Just a thought…

Pearls of sorbet bon bons

To get back on track, though, Pearls of Sorbet will be here at Holiday Wine Cellar this Friday from 4PM-7PM for a free sampling of three of their sorbet varieties. Pints of sorbet and sets of 12 assorted sorbet bon bons will be available for purchase as well.

Join us and experience the delight of these frozen wine-filled indulgences!
