Hot Cocoa : Wine-O Style

The Wine-O Hot Cocoa is something anyone (who enjoys chocolate & wine together or separate) will appreciate to the last drop, especially when the the chocolate is 55% cocoa and the wine is under $25 .

What about Wine-O Hot Cocoa?  People say, you aren’t truly seasoned in the whimsical scents and tastes of winter, until you’ve experienced the smells & tastes of mulled wine.  Again, we ask, what about Wine-O Hot Cocoa?

Most of us, here at Holiday Wine Cellar, would certainly agree with people on the topic of how whimsical mulled wine is; but we aren’t here to share any additional information about mulled wine, other than suggest you definitely give it a try! What we are here to share is our take on something we would consider a more simplistic, (dare we say) Americanized version of mulled wine. This wine infused hot cocoa isn’t like mulled wine much at all.  Three things are for certain, this particular drink take A LOT LESS effort, time, and ingredients than mulled wine does!  Please allow us the pleasure in introducing you to: The Wine-O Hot Cocoa.

The Wine-O Hot Cocoa is a drink anyone (who enjoys chocolate & wine together or separate) will appreciate to the last drop.

This is one of those drinks that is a wonderful treat on a cold day or any day that you would like to have something sweet that could (and probably should) include wine.  We can’t think of anyone that would pass up a tasty opportunity that involves chocolate and wine, can you?!  We didn’t think so.

Hot Cocoa : Wine-O Styly

WINE – O HOT COCOA

INGREDIENTS | MAKES 2 MUGS OR 6-8 SMALLER GLASSES

  1. 1 1/2 cup milk
  2. 1 cup red wine  (HWC suggests a Cabernet Sauvignon for the red wine)
  3. 1/3 cup dark chocolate drops  (These Wine Lover’s Chocolate Collection offers a 55% cocoa blend of these dark chocolate drops, which complement seamlessly with the full-bodied nature of many Cabernet Sauvignon wines)
  4. Optional: whipped cream
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine milk and chocolate chips. Whisking constantly until chocolate is melted into milk and you have a thick and creamy chocolate milk. Pour in red wine and heat until everything is hot. Pour into 2 mugs or 6-8 smaller glasses and (if you would like to) top with whipped cream.
NOTES
  1. This drink is extremely RICH, even for those of us here at Holiday Wine Cellar that LOVE chocolate and sweets. So instead of just serving 2, we would recommended serving 6-8 in smaller glasses for sipping.

As with all booze related recipes, please drink responsibly.  HWC wants to share a friendly reminder that moderation is key in both alcohol and hot cocoa.
