Living in such close proximity to Mexico has its benefits. You’ve got Baja California practically a stone’s throw away; there’s the burgeoning gastronomy scene right across the border in Tijuana; head East just a tad and you can taste the freshest Tecate that has ever graced your lips.

But seriously, one of the great things about San Diego is that it attracts events such as the Made In Mexico Festival in Old Town San Diego, hosted by the event company Glorious Spirits. Included in this event is a tasting competition in which dozens of Mexican distilleries will vie for a medal in categories including not only tequila, but also mezcal, sotol, bacanora, liqueur, rum, and vodka.

Don Cuco Sotol

Sotol: a Mexican spirit distilled from the Dasylirion wheeleri plant

Among the esteemed panel of judges is our very own KC Tucker, bringing her 15 plus years of experience in the beverage sales industry to the tasting table. We as a company are excited to be a part of this festival and only wish that we all could attend and taste dozens of Mexican spirits on company time!

The competition will be held Thursday during a private tasting and the festival will officially kick off Friday evening with a dinner event, followed by the main festival on Saturday. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit Eventbrite.

¡Salud!
